Spaghetti Fest 4 Cave House Studios was approached by Seth Casana to edit Midnight Spaghetti’s live performance at Spaghettifest 4. Concert footage was shot in HDV with 3 cameras, one on stage camera and two cameras with a broader perspective from behind the crowd. First, we synchronized the footage so that we could cut “live” from each camera to the next without any loss of synch between them. Utilizing Final Cut Pro’s Multi-cam editing capabilities allowed for us to easily view each camera as the concert was playing, to best choose which shot selection looked best at any given time. The final concert DVD came in around 120 minutes and was exported and compressed for DVD-9. We then broke down the Spaghettifest 4 image into its separate design elements and animated each element into place using Apple Motion. The final animation used for the DVD menu in DVD Studio Pro.

Spaghetti Fest 5 In 2007, Cave House was asked to cover the Spaghettifest annual weekend long music festival. 35 Bands on 3 stages over the course of 3 days would make for one intense weekend of shooting. This year Midnight Spaghetti envisioned going beyond the previous year and wanted to capture the performances and experience of the entire festival. The concept would be to capture the performances of the many bands at Spaghettifest and string them together as if you were there viewing the festival yourself. With that direction in mind, we headed to Natural Chimneys with our cameras and equipment. Our first Spaghettifest, we were floored by the talent and diversity of the music at the event - there was funk, rock, hip-hop, ska, reggae, jazz, bluegrass. Combined with the picturesque location backdrop of Natural Chimneys, this would make for a great project. After returning from the festival, we got to work assembling the footage into movie form. Using our basic story idea of the festival happenings itself, we pieced together the performances chronologically intermixing interviews, festival attendees, and shots of the park. The final feature length movie features over 21 bands with performances from – Midnight Spaghetti, Freekbass, Murphy’s Kids, The Pietasters, These United States, The Transmitters, Jounce, Rubberlegs, and many more. Cave House exported and authored the project onto DVD-5 for short run duplication, with DVD menus created based on designs hand drawn by Seth Casana of Midnight Spaghetti.

Spaghetti Fest 6 Cave House was asked to return for our second year of shooting at Spaghettifest. With assisting camera crew available, this year we were tasked with capturing all of the music performers. With 45 bands on the list and rain that wouldn’t stop, it would make for another jam-packed weekend.
