The University of Mary Washington’s marketing team was looking for something to spice up their website. They had long envisioned a marketing project utilizing video to help inform potential students of the full range of experiences available at the University. After meeting with us, we set the plan in motion. UMW Perspectives is a series of 17 documentary style interviews of students, faculty, and alumni. Topics included student life, study abroad, economics, athletics, creative writing, and many more. Interviews took place at various picturesque locations on the University’s two campuses. Cave House handled the artistic and technical aspects of the interview – lights, sound, and camera - and the University team conducted the interviews. After the footage was digitized, we provided them with a raw sample of each interview to help choose which interviews best represented the University’s image. After the topics were chosen, we cut together the interview with titles, photographs, and footage from a secondary camera. We further enhanced the image with a color correction step to bring out a full range of contrast in value and color. Finally, the interviews were then compressed and exported to FLV format for use in embedding on the UMW website.
